What we hold to

Six things that shape every session, whatever is happening on the day.

Step 01

Doing before being told

A child who has handled something remembers it. We start with the activity and let the understanding follow from it, rather than the other way round.

Step 02

No marks, no ranking

Children are not compared with each other here. Removing the scoreboard is precisely what makes it safe to attempt something difficult in front of other people.

Step 03

Small groups

Sessions stay small enough that an adult knows how each child is doing without having to ask them.

Step 04

Safety as a default

Supervised throughout, with clear handover at drop-off and pick-up. Parents are welcome to see the space before enrolling anyone.

Step 05

Progress at their own pace

Children of the same age are rarely at the same stage. We follow the child in front of us rather than a fixed schedule.

Step 06

Parents can see in

You are told honestly how your child is getting on, including when something is not working. That is the part most places skip.

What Joydo is not

It is fairer to be clear about this before you visit.

  • Not a tuition centre. We do not teach the school syllabus and we set no homework.
  • Not a replacement for school. Joydo runs alongside it, in the after-school hours.
  • Not a daycare. Sessions are structured and led, not simply supervised time.
  • Not a competition. No ranking, no leaderboard, no prize for finishing first.

If what you need is exam coaching, we will tell you so and point you elsewhere.

Come and see the space

The quickest way to understand Joydo is to stand in it. Book a visit and bring your child along.
